Kunafa Recipe Sooper Chef: It's always a good idea to keep some sweet snacks on hand! After experimenting with various types of kunafas at my local grocery store, I decided to develop this recipe. When I bought them, they were just plain white balls of dough with a lot of air inside. I got home a few days later and took a bite. 

Then I realized they weren't just any kunafas; they were sweet kunafas! Make some tasty kunafas if you want to make some sweet snacks!  Kunafa is a traditional Middle Eastern pastry, which means it's a savory version of a cookie. You might know kunafa as baklava, but that's a Turkish dessert (you can read about it here).

They are known as kufteh in Arabic countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Regardless of what they're called, kunafa is a delectable treat. So gather your ingredients and follow along with me for the recipe below! Northern Ghanaians enjoy sweet kunafa for breakfast. Kunafa (also spelled kunafa) is a type of food made from ground cornmeal. 

Kunafa is frequently served with butter tea, a drink made from roasted and boiled Senegalese Senna leaf. Kunafa can be cooked directly over fire using an ajika, which is a stick-like griddle. Women may add onion, garlic, ginger, green pepper, tomatoes, and cabbage when cooking kunafa over an open fire.

Depending on the type of flour used, kunafa can be made in a variety of ways. While watching the sunrise, I enjoy eating sweet kunafa with my morning coffee. We've been eating this delectable dish since we were children.

1) Constituents

 1 cup milk - 

 2 cups flour - 

 1/2 cup sugar - 

 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

 1/4 teaspoon salt - 

 2 eggs

2)  Method: 

 Thoroughly combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt) - thoroughly combine the wet ingredients (milk, eggs, and melted butter) - pour the mixture into your pan and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown

3)  Notes -

To make kunafa without butter, substitute oil for the butter. Please contact me if you have any questions about making Kunafa.
